• £26,000–£28,000 basic salary plus bonus of up to £6,000 annually

Zest Optical are working with a patient focused independent opticians in Romsey, Hampshire to recruit a full time Optical Assistant.

This is an opportunity to develop your optical career in a boutique practice that values individual service, quality eyewear and a positive team environment. You will receive support from experienced colleagues, have opportunities to contribute ideas and build your knowledge beyond the day-to-day basics.

For an Optical Assistant looking to qualify, the practice can support and fund the Dispensing Optician course. Applications are equally welcome from experienced Optical Assistants who enjoy their current role and want to continue developing their skills.

Optical Assistant – Role

• Join a modern, spacious independent practice with a welcoming atmosphere
• Provide a friendly, attentive service throughout the patient journey
• Help patients select eyewear that suits their prescription, face shape, personal style and lifestyle
• Work with handpicked independent frame collections from around the world
• Support dispensing, spectacle collections, adjustments and aftercare, according to your experience
• Work alongside experienced Dispensing Opticians, a Contact Lens Optician and optical support
• Develop your frame and lens knowledge through ongoing training
• Contribute to frame selection and share ideas for the practice
• Take an active role in the day-to-day running of a small, collaborative team
• Opportunity to progress onto a funded Dispensing Optician course
• Opportunities to attend optical trade shows and industry trips
• Full time, five days per week including every Saturday
• Working hours of 9am–5pm, with a weekday off
• Closed Sundays and bank holidays

Optical Assistant – Salary and Benefits

• Basic salary of £26,000–£28,000, depending on experience
• Bonus potential of up to £6,000 annually
• Bonus eligibility following successful completion of a six-month probation period
• Funded professional development, including the DO course for a suitable candidate
• Supportive working environment with opportunities to learn and take on responsibility

Optical Assistant – Requirements

• Previous experience working as an Optical Assistant
• Enthusiastic about eyewear, fashion and helping people feel confident in their glasses
• Friendly, positive and committed to excellent customer service
• Keen to learn, develop and contribute ideas
• Comfortable using initiative and working as part of a small team
• Organised, with good attention to detail
• Interest in the DO course is welcome, although not essential
